The Alternative Center is an integrated community based day program for extraordinary people with extraordinary abilities. We work with adults with developmental disabilities and special needs. We pride ourselves in providing high quality care with a focus on security and dependability.

Our Beginnings

The Alternative Center was founded in 2008 by Carol Peifer.  Carol is blessed with a daughter with Downs Syndrome, and it was through this blessing that her passion for this work began.  The Alternative Center’s vision is to be a place where each person’s abilities can be encouraged and strengthened through the love and commitment of our devoted staff and volunteers.  We seek to show the world what we CAN do and WHO we truly ARE!  Disability does not mean inability!  Each person’s ideas, perspectives and input is valued and integral in making our community shine!
